To integrate MailChimp with Group Doorman, you’ll need to install our Chrome extension for the group you’re currently managing. You’ll also need a MailChimp account.
Adding MailChimp to Group Doorman integrations
1.Let’s get started! First, open up Group Doorman and navigate to the Manage groups tab (1). From there, click on the +Add integrations button (2) to begin setting up your integration.
2. Next, scroll down the list of available integrations, find MailChimp, and click on it.
3. After selecting MailChimp, a set-up form will appear. From here, you can choose to create a brand-new account or select an existing one if you have already set up an account for another group and wish to reuse it.
Adding API key
4. Go to your MailChimp profile, and click on your profile picture (1) in the lower-left corner of the page. Then, click on Profile (2) in the modal window that appears. Once your profile page is open, click on the Extras tab (3) at the top of the page.
5. Now, in the drop-down list, click on API keys (1). From there, click on the Create New Key button (2) located in the lower-left corner of the page.
6. You have successfully created your API key (1). Now copy it to your clipboard (2). To make sure you don’t lose it, we recommend that you save it in a secure location. You never know when you might need it! Once you’ve done that, click Done (3) to complete the process.
7. The next step is to paste your API key into the appropriate field in Group Doorman.
Getting List ID
8. Now let’s go to MailChimp. Find Audience in the side menu (1) and select All contacts (2) from the drop-down list that appears. From there, navigate to the Settings tab (3) on the contacts page and click Audience name and defaults (4) in the drop-down list.
9. On the page open, find the Audience ID heading and copy your List ID.
10. In the Group Doorman setup form, paste the List ID, that you’ve copied (1), into the corresponding field and click Save and continue (2).
Adding a tag at Group Doorman
11. In the Group Doorman form, enter the name of the tag in the appropriate field. This tag will then be transferred to MailChimp by Group Doorman when creating a contact.
Creating a Custom field at MailChimp
Group Doorman allows you to post your group members’ responses to MailChimp using custom fields. You’ll need to specify which response corresponds to each field. Additionally, Group Doorman can automatically generate default custom fields for you. To do this, simply click on the “Create Fields for Answers” button.
12. To create a custom field manually at MailChimp, go to the Audience (1) in the side menu, then click All contacts (2) in the drop-down. Now click Settings (3) on the page open and select Audience fields and *[MERGE]* tags (4) in the drop-down list.
13. On this page, you can manage the fields, available to your audience (1) or Add new fields (2).
Completion of setup
14. In the Group Doorman form, you can manage the Custom fields block by selecting the fields that were created in MailChimp (1) or creating new ones instantly (2). If you have changed the custom fields in MailChimp you can select Refresh fields (3). Once you have finished managing the custom fields, simply click on Save and close (4).
